I would prefer poor sounding live audio over a cheesy overdubbing with the studio track. It reminds me of the Gasoline Alley Bred video, live vs. studio overdub. The live vocals are thrilling. The overdubbed version is processed cheese.

Nice clip, shame about the replaced audio. Love Tony's doodles - I feel like if they had released an album in '68, he could have provided the artwork.

At last, some footage from the actual show! Complete with Tony Hicks’ drawings at the beginning. They’ve replaced the audio for the studio track, the original audio was a live vocal over the studio backing track with the cold ending as used on the original 1966 TOTP performance and also the 1969 ‘Hollies In Concert’ performance. Gah, another clip from the Dutch oldies music station 192TV. Great for old video, and I've discovered some awesome music that was a hit there and nowhere else, but EVERY soundtrack is replaced by the studio recording, sadly.

I have to echo some other posters here - great to see some actual footage from this show but dismayed by it being redubbed. Given how such things tend to happen, it's likely one day the entire show will get "liberated" - like all other existing "Colour Me Pop" shows have - and we'll get to see and enjoy it in full with its proper soundtrack.

By popular demand, here's a re-edited version to remove some of the graphics and add back in the original audio. You're welcome

Couple of minor corrections re: the description of the video: the Hollies Colour Me Pop survived because it was kept by the shows director Stephen Turner, not from a foreign archive, (unless 192TV had a separate source!) and it was recovered by Kaleidoscope, a separate (although related) organisation to Missing Believed Wiped.

Here's 'Listen to me' from 'colour me pop .. While that footage is from the filming of 'Colour Me Pop', it's not footage from the broadcast show itself: it was filmed for a French TV programme during the Colour Me Pop recording and broadcast separately in France (they also filmed behind the scenes clips of the H driving to the recording and backstage). Confusing I admit!

I’ve just seen that ‘Carrie Anne’ from the show has just had an airing. I can’t find it on YouTube at the moment, but it’s doing the rounds on Facebook.

I hesitated at first as it's a bit pricey, but then I came to my senses (it's Nash-era colour footage!)... DVD ordered!

Is this all going to be miming or studio track overdubs again? I’m not interested if it is. We had enough of that junk on the Dutch collection. The Hollies lip syncing is never satisfying to me. It just makes me feel cheated, when live vocals are so exciting by comparison .

The complete breakdown of what’s what is in Cameron’s second post on this very thread.

This is great news though maybe I'm not excited as I should be. Maybe it's the setlist and the part live bit! Not too dissimilar to the BBC Concert from the following year.
Is this a grey market release? Is it colourised or was an actual colour copy recovered?

Is it an official release? The artwork for the DVD does look very bootleg-ish. This was famously pulled from being shown at the BFI a few years ago due to legal issues, but it did eventually get shown a couple of years later at their 'Missing, Believed Wiped' showcase - albeit in black and white. Apparently the 16mm film copy had damaged audio, which was another hold up. Luckily, there was an off-air reel to reel copy done of the audio which they were able to re-sync.
The colour recovery process is an interesting one, I'm excited to see what the results are. I wonder if the 1969 'In Concert' can also be recovered this way? It depends on the source tape. Very very very long story short, if it was filmed in colour and copied over to black and white film for export markets, the black and white copy contains traces of colour. The software that's been developed can "read" this information and enhance the colour again. There's a bit more to it than that, but that's the process in layman's terms. So it's not a "colourised" version that you're seeing, where someone has painstakingly coloured the frames in, guessing the original colours, this process restores the footage to use the original colours as it was, so it's more accurate than a colourisation.

These are the same people that recently released the limited edition 'Ready, Steady, Go!' collection... minus The Beatles performances, as they didn't have the rights.

Don’t worry that’s not the final cover art!
Ftr There was never a problem with the audio on the telerecording of the Hollies CMP per se (when it was shown at the Kal event in 2019 the original audio was used and it sounded fine) but it’s true that a separate higher quality audio feed of the show (not an off air) was made and kept by BBC engineer Michael Cotton who worked on this broadcast and this has been used for the colour restoration and DVD to present an enhanced audio experience.

Question for Peter as a TV collector... aside from the complete Don't Get Sunburnt is there anything else of particular interest still out there?
Did I imagine it or was a pre split clip of LCW or Long Dark Road with Allan found somewhere?

Did I imagine it or was a pre split clip of LCW or Long Dark Road with Allan found somewhere? I forgot about that! See here for more info: missingepisodes.proboards.com/thread/13270/dave-cash-radio-programI can't think of anything else off-hand that is known to survive, but of course there are probable surprises out there somewhere. That 1968 Croatian footage came completely out of the blue!
