I see on the Missing Episodes forum that the entire series of the BBC/German show has been identified as existing in a German archive. The Hollies episode was broadcast in November 1970.
Does anyone have any idea what they did on the show? Lip synced to Gasoline Alley Bred?

I asked about this on the Kaleidoscope group. I made a nice long post that I researched the web for a bit more information about the show to hopefully get others interested in answering… Chris Perry himself approved the post, then promptly disabled the comments and told me that it had been discussed before and I should bother to seek out a post that he thought he recalled from two years ago! I looked but couldn’t find any mention of it on the group at all. Are all vintage film enthusiasts this miserable? His behaviour is similar to David Peck of Reelin In The Years. Why can’t they just be nice? We might support their products more… I’ve come off the group and the forum, what’s the point when you’re not allowed to ask a genuine question without getting a dressing down. Not helpful in the slightest.

That's a pity Cameron as information about the show seems very scant. I haven't come across a photograph from it.
Was it some sort of variety show with an ice skating element?

Your guess is as good as mine! If my post was allowed to have comments on it on the Kaleidoscope group, we might have found out an answer! The only information I’ve been able to find is on the IMDB site, which is surprisingly comprehensive: www.imdb.com/title/tt8995032/It appears to be a light entertainment show filmed at Pontin’s Holiday Park in Camber Sands, East Sussex that was a joint venture between the BBC and the German broadcaster SFB. Other guests of note include Sandie Shaw (which would be interesting to see, given how late in her initial career this appearance was), the Marmalade, Mungo Jerry and Frank Ifield. Other guests range from German singers to folk groups. It certainly doesn’t reek of a show that was “hip and cool”! According to IMDB, the Hollies performed on the first ever episode, which was broadcast on 14th November, 1970. The show ran for 45 minutes and had ten guests, so I’m thinking that the Hollies only performed one song, which would likely be ‘Gasoline Alley Bred’, given that it was released in September. As an aside, I just double checked the release date for ‘Gasoline Alley Bred’, and can’t believe that it would be EIGHT MONTHS before they’d release their next single, ‘Hey Willy’, which would then be another ten months before ‘The Baby’. Have any Hollies singles in their heyday had such lengthy gaps between releases? 1970 seems to be the last year that they regularly turned out singles until Allan Clarke returned in late 1973.
