So, can anyone explain this huge upsurge in sales of the Greatest hits package on Amazon? Are any tracks being used as ads on tv or anything?😲 This chart is the Movers and Shakers , IE increased sales activity.

I suspect its off the back of the 'If These Walls Could Sing' documentary about Abbey Road, featuring the story of recording 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother', with interviews from Tony, Bobby and Elton John.

But why that particular compilation? There must be dozens to choose from!

That's the compilation that's still in print, as far as I know, as its still carried by HMV. Yet another faceless hits compilation, sadly... I wish they'd have followed the 'Gold' trend of compilations that we've seen in recent years, with 2/3 discs of hits and key album tracks.

That was the compilation that started me off in 2003 when it was released (other than the Canadian compilation I had in high school). It's a nice hits overview in that it collects all the charting songs from around the world, unlike others that stick to either US or UK hits.
I mean, if you have to only compile the hits...

Glad you liked it Bee - I pressed for chronological order of songs but Tim Chacksfield said the running times prevented that...
The single of 'Magic Woman Touch' could not be used as there was a massive 'drop out' on the intro which is not noticeable on vinyl but boy did it show up on CD !!! - so the 'Romany' track went on instead
I asked about 'That's My Desire' (South Africa no.1 in 1967) but Tim advised The Hollies who loathed cutting the track back in 1965, and more so when it held current single 'Carrie Anne' off top spot in South Africa had vetoed it's inclusion ...!
My biggest gripe was the non acoustic guitar version of 'I Can't Tell The Bottom From The Top' - I urged they include the stereo original hit version on 'Hollies Greatest vol 2' - however the powers that be deemed otherwise....
we got the one and only Carl Wayne vocal track 'How Do I Survive'(minus Alan Coates unable to make the session apparently) while nice to hear Carl get a song pity it was such an average Paul Bliss number, surely a stronger song could have ended the set...maybe a live Hollies version of Carl singing say; 'Blackberry Way' or 'Flowers in The Rain' ??
whatever overall it was a pretty comprehensive set, and they centralised the vocals on a few sixties stereo tracks
