I know whoever runs the "Official" Hollies Facebook and Twitter thinks Graham Nash is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I swear they post stuff to get reactions - ANY reaction. Like on Mother's Day when they posted a photo of Graham and his former wife Susan pregnant, rather than Allan, Jeni and the kids (which I posted in the comments). But this is borderline stupid. Yes, it was tweeted as well. I mean, the band is already "Graham and some guys who recorded Bus Stop" to too many people. But this...? I feel like staging a coup and taking over the page!

Yeah that’s pretty awful. A group NOT devoted to The Hollies would probably do better than that.

Unless... Tony put on weight, went grey and grew a mustache?

Words almost fail me how cretinous this is! And then we sometimes wonder why The Hollies aren't as respected and given the kudos they truly deserve. For me, assigning whoever this person is to oversee their "official" account proves they still keep making calamitous errors that do them zero favours at all.

It caters to the sycophants and they don't care. As long as they buy concert tickets so they can hear "Bus Stop" again, apparently that's all that matters. Legacy, schmegacy.

I think there might be a range of people involved, certainly at least Rob Haywood who'd certainly know better. I'm trying to remember when I first saw this FB page - I suspect it was to promote another bloody compilation.

The tone of those posts suggest input from some of the more sycophantic members that were in the "official" forum that some of us got booted out of many years ago because they didn't want or like our HONESTY! i still cringe when I think back to some of the stuff that would get posted that they approved of. It was a shame but I did meet some of you there and we ended up here instead carrying on with the sort of banter we tried to do back there, you know, intelligent decent discussions and insights into The Hollies' music and legacy... NOT jumping up and down gushing how "cute" Tony looked on the latest tour or those really embarrassing birthday threads! And what was our "crime"? Admitting that "Staying Power" could have been a far better album, in dismay and disbelief that the drums were programmed, so we got booted out then what happened on the next album? They made sure Bobby's drumming was real. Sigh...

I’ve belonged to groups just like that for other bands I like. I think most of them are just fans of being fans. Me too... been in a fair few and left practically all of them as that is pretty much the case and there's only so much of it one can tolerate. It has had me questioning the whole meaning of "fan" as lets be honest, there's nothing wrong with expressing admiration of an artiste's work and being a fan like we are here but there are many who take it that one step further to the degree where one questions their overall mental wellbeing. Tony is renowned for avoiding fans after shows and making quiet exits and from what I used to read on that old forum, I could perfectly understand why he does that since the last thing anybody deserves after a show is to be confronted by a load of "fans" making a fuss about how cute he is!

I seem to recall that back pre Covid and the Hollies were going to tour the USA that the organizers (Promoters or someone like that) took over the control of the website. Rob no longer had control and I don't know if it ever came back to his control. I personally haven't even attempted to look at the site for at least 18 months.
As someone said earlier, this is another classic example of the cockups (my words) that seems to have beset The Hollies right back to the beginnings of the band. If they had a strong manager i.e. (someone like) Epsteine through their career they would be a lot more respected than they are.
The guys in the band have been complicit as well.

See, I thought that happened too, mostly because of the domain change of the "official" site from co.uk to .com and because of the sudden Nash obsession, which can only be to make the North Americans happy. Who knows. But I agree. The fans are the worse thing about being a fan sometimes. And it's not only Tony...yikes on bikes, those drooling Clarkey women. And in groups where their kids are members! I guess the progeny have developed a thick skin over the years, but I still feel so embarrassed for them...
