Very sad news about Don's passing, another big blow this year to the Everly family (not long since the whole Cathy's Clown songwriting credit dispute) and us fans. No words from any past or present Hollies so far apart from Terry on Twitter:
"🎤 Dreadful news, Don Everly has died, he was my all time musical hero, thankfully I got to meet him, RIP 🌹"

Definitely bummer news about Don and I too was stunned learning that Don and Phil's mother is still with us aged 101.
The Everly's were far more important than they've ever been given credit for as their influence was vast and they were a gateway for older blues, country and folk acts for many people thanks to what they grew up listening to and fusing into something uniquely their own. They made it sound and look easy but it sure isn't. Allan and Graham sure learnt a lot from them and without the Everly's there would never be The Hollies.

Graham Nash and Allan Clarke meeting the brothers in Manchester in 1960 has seemed quite a turning point as they started writing songs together soon after. The Everlys were a major inspiration to many besides the two Hollies. So many recordings that should live forever, and as with The Hollies, their outtakes and left-overs are better than some lesser artiste's 'best ofs' in my opinion.
