A review of Resurgence from 2019 that I saw for the first time yesterday when Rocking Magpie on Twitter retweeted the blog post. Maybe not new, but can it get any more awesome? "The Godfather Of British Americana Returns to Put The Alt. Into Country"? rockingmagpie.wordpress.com/2019/09/23/allan-clarke-resurgence

"The Godfather Of British Americana Returns to Put The Alt. I'd say The Rolling Stones are an example of British Americana, especially their early 70s Mick Taylor era output where they ramped up the country and gospel influences in their work. Graham's CSNY songs and solo stuff could be another one - didn't Allan present him with some kind of British Americana award a year or two ago?
I think I've already made a few posts before going over some of the folk and country-tinged Hollies songs (things like Running Through The Night, Stop, Stop, Stop, most of the Dylan album, Why Didn't You Believe, Gasoline Alley Bred, What A Life I've Led, LCW, etc.), so I can sort of see why the article could claim Allan as its originator!

I'd also nominate Ray Davies as he's long had a curious obsession about Americana to the degree he wrote a book about it and The Kinks''Muswell Hillbillies' album is a curious take on Americana as are tracks dotted across their albums after that.

That is a brilliant album. It's title track is on my band's setlist.
