While Evolution is only my third favourite album of theirs (behind FCB and Butterfly), it definitely has my favourite album cover art of all time. Love the fusion between psychedelia and art nouveau and how mysteriously cool they all look reaching out in their Nehru jackets. A big kudos to Karl and The Fool for putting it together. Shame they didn't work with them again for Hollies Sing Hollies or Confessions later, could've given those much more interesting covers... (also sorry to slightly derail and bring up my avatar again but for anyone wondering, I couldn't find any good Rickfors era pics to my liking, so I just went through with the idea I've had for a while of redesigning the FCB cover Pet Sounds style instead. Kinda fitting as it's Brian Wilson's birthday today )

How about a new Hollies Sing Hollies in the style of another album from 1969? Abbey Road? Led Zeppelin II? The Guilded Palace of Sin by the Flying Burrito Brothers? Bayou Country by CCR?

Sounds like an interesting idea! Maybe I'll make a thread for that in the future. I think the guys in our Instagram group chat would appreciate those too lol

How about combining the guys in their matching yellow outfits with the soldiers in the Zep II photo? That would be pretty psychedelic in my book.

I've enjoyed looking through that book - how interesting to see the proposed photo for 'Butterfly'! I wish they'd have gone with that one instead of the drawing. I guess the butterflies survived onto the German version at least...
Seeing this reminded me of another Karl Ferris/Hollies/Donovan crossover: Karl shot some promo footage of Donovan at the same time as the photoshoot for 'A Gift From a Flower to a Garden', and Graham Nash is one of the people in the garden with him, who can be seen very clearly in the video:

And you can hear it....
