In my humble opinion, their best and most confident and cohesive lp Their best writing, too. This was the band's peak as composers.

Maybe my favorite cover photo of the band too. A really nice piece of artwork.

I've done some digging on this... Endless Happiness is the label handling the reissue, so we can assume that it's not official and won't be pressed from any master tapes, but could be wrong. They're a seemingly new label based in Poland, who, according to their website "The label team possesses the highest professionalism and the widest creativity to satisfy the most discerning vinyl collector and listener.", apparently! None of their catalogue seems to have been reviewed yet online, so quality is unknown. The 'For Certain Because' reissue lists that it's a gatefold, so we can assume it will replicate the original cover. Interestingly, all the other releases by Endless Happiness on Discogs state that the records play at 45rpm, which seems unfathomable that they'd squeeze the same tracks onto one LP that played at 33rpm. Even photos of the record labels state that they play at 45rpm, so this reissue could be interesting! The link to their website is here, with the Hollies' reissue listed on their catalogue page: www.e-h-records.com/

I didn’t see it on their site, has a single disc been specified anywhere? Very interesting info at any rate. Thanks for sharing! Mark

Mark Quite possible it could be a double album containing 45's as this seems to be a bit of a fad amongst audiophiles some of whom want albums pressed on 12 inch 45's for alleged better quality. Not that I've ever heard of this label and the chances of this being an official release seems very slim.

That’s what I was thinking too. I don’t buy vinyl much, but most of the 45rpm albums I’ve read about/seen in stores come in double disc sets, and usually in gatefolds. Will be interesting to see. Gatefold sleeve, 1 x 33 1/3 disc. Haven't played it yet but it sure looks nice ... Includes the 'bonus' tracks - After The Fox, Bus Stop and Don't Run & Hide... 15 tracks in total

Going a bit off-topic, I've just seen this regarding the 50th Anniversary of George Harrison's 'All Things Must Pass'. Tony's son Paul has been involved:
"In celebration of the 50th Anniversary, George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass is being celebrated with a suite of new releases highlighted by a stunning new mix of the classic album by Grammy Award-winning mixer/engineer Paul Hicks, overseen by executive producer Dhani Harrison. The 3LP (180g) exclusive edition is pressed on green and black splatter colour vinyl and contained in a slim box, including a poster and an 8-page insert with photos and notes from Dhani Harrison and Paul Hicks on remixing the album."

Curious, has Paul ever done much work with his dad or on any Hollies stuff?

Curious, has Paul ever done much work with his dad or on any Hollies stuff? Mark From what I recall, he did the ghastly "remix" of "King Midas In Reverse" with new drum parts from Bobby a decade or so ago and I think he was also involved in earlier remixes with new overdubs such as Tony's new parts to finish off "Schoolgirl".

Re: Paul Hicks - to my knowledge, he's done 'Schoolgirl' back in 1997, 'King Midas In Reverse' in about 2010 and the Hollies' 'Live Hits: We've Got The Tunes' a little later. 'Schoolgirl' is okay, but a bit strange that it's pretty much all mono apart from the guitar overdubs (ie, they don't gel too well), the less said about the 2010 remix of 'King Midas' the better and the live album sounds very weak, with Tony having so much mid range on his vocals that he sounds like he has a cold on his solo spot on 'Then Now and Always'! I was surprised hearing them live that they actually really pack a punch, that live album was quite misleading in its sound reproduction.
Back on topic... if it's a 2 x 45rpm release, I will be buying it. Just cutting a lacquer at 45rpm from the master tape gives the cutting head much more time to cut the soundwave and has the effect of increasing the sample rate, in digital speak. The result is a much more detailed cut with subtleties like reverb and echo reproduced much more realistically. It also boosts the bottom end frequencies and allows a louder cut. I bought all the half speed 45rpm remasters of the various ABBA albums and all of them sound head and shoulders cleaner and more vibrant than any other pressing/version. Particularly 'ABBA - The Album', which, outside of Sweden, used a damaged master tape with some kind of top frequency cut off for side one of the LP, which has been used for just about all CD issues since. The half speed 45rpm cut was done using the first generation Swedish master tape and it was quite a revelation to hear.

Cameron, as I noted above, its a standard one disc 33 ⅓ release, with three bonus cuts...
