Just been looking at old ticket stubs etc, and suddenly wondered if anyone knew about Rod Shields? I may have had a moment and missed something obvious, but is he still around? ( Not with the Hollies, just as in is he still alive, or have I a faint memory of something else?) He was such a lovely guy.

I have no idea really, I know he retired in 2002/3, as they dedicated the 'Long Road Home' boxset to him. I think you'd find out some more about him there, I think it's on the back page of the book and Allan and Bobby share some anecdotes and stories of his time with the group. Apparently his retirement didn't happen quite as planned; there was no "golden handshake" from the Hollies, like a lot of people get when they retire. He was their road manager from almost the very beginning, certainly from the beginning of their mainstream success around 1964, though he seemed to get glossed over by and large in Bobby's book. Lots of the rare/candid photos and videos of the band were shot by him, a lot of the footage appearing in the 'Look Through Any Window' DVD from 2010.

Thanks for that info.I just remember him always being there, and being so helpful to us as fans, letting us go backstage for Hollies'anniversaries a couple of times.A sweet guy.I must have missed him retiring, as a had a couple of years off concert going when my daughter was small! Surprised,as you said, that he wasn't mentioned more, as he was a constant reliable presence for so long.Hope he's still around🤞😊
