Was there a point to posting this to the 'official' Hollies YouTube channel only an hour ago? Proceeds are not going to charity, btw. And, no, I'm not linking it. But I find the timing weird. I saw on Facebook somewhere that this has been promoted on Christian Radio! Can’t believe Allan comes out with a new recording of it for charity and the same week the Hollies (Official) seem to be pushing a solo Peter Howarth version of it... I guess Tony really hasn’t forgiven Allan for saying that he wasn’t an original Hollie on that interview last year! Some people grow up. Others just grow older.

I don't wish to sound bitchy or negative, but I have zero interest or intention on checking out Peter Howarth's version. I still haven't recovered from seeing some video of him performing it in the band a few years ago. Allan and Francis's version hits the spot and is for a good cause. What "cause" this other version is for... goodness knows.

Not sure why Tony's getting the blame(?).

Not sure why Tony's getting the blame(?). I guess he's perceived as being in charge? I didn't blame him myself. It comes across as pettiness from The Hollies™ to me but could also be absolute cluelessness.

Hi Tony, Peter Howarth is there for those who wish to keep seeing the Hollies these days. Not everyone's cuppa of tea, but sure fills the need. In real terms the Hollies stopped being a relevant band in the mid 70's. I say let Tony and Bob keep spreading the music and playing to those who love the music. With respect Allan he sounded very ordinary in the later years.

I think the real issue is the timing, Anthony. I find it a tad tasteless especially considering that Allan's recording is for charity. But I guess they know their core audience doesn't care and they play to that.

I noticed The Hollies (official) facebook site did not have Allan's video up, in either the 'home' page or the 'community' page, so I posted it, on the home page, which automatically cuts and pastes it to the community page. I would guess most facebook users only know of, and view, the home page. I doubt they'll take it down, as there are a lot of other pro-Allan posts on the community page...

Saw it, liked it and commented! I thought of doing the same, but I'm among those who have butted heads with Haywood in the past, so I'm glad you did. Just looks less biased.

I'm not blaming Tony, but he's the one who by and large calls the shots. I can't imagine that someone in the Hollies Ltd camp would be pushing this Peter Howarth recording in this way without running it past Tony and Bobby first when it's being done in the Hollies' name. And believe me, absolutely nothing gets past them... I'll say no more on that one.

Funny I'm a big Hollies lover as we all are but I don't go to their YouTube page, all the clips have been around for years. That's why it was brilliant when Simon posted some really rare clips sometime ago, that's what I really want to see.

Not just YouTube though...They were pushing Peter's unplugged "He Ain't Heavy" this weekend on the official Facebook page too. And some Christian radio channel. Why now? Why that song? A little respect please, if not for Allan, then for the cause he's raising money for.

For those on Facebook. And on Twitter. It's touching everyone personally. My son and his roommate in Toronto have recovered. Others aren't so lucky. Stay safe and treasure your loved ones...

How sad regarding his brother-in-law! At the risk of turning this into a Covid-19 thread, I'm fairly sure I had it in late December/early January after returning from a holiday in Austria. Certainly it's emerging that it was in Europe this early… I had a persistent dry hacking cough that barely let up day and night for several days in a row (unlike anything I've had before) + a high fever, though fortunately (if I did indeed have it) I suffered no long-term effects.

My son called the telehealth nurse in early March -- he had a list of symptoms as long as my arm, including exhaustion that didn't let up for a month. But since his symptoms differed from his roommate's she said that she doubted he had it and wouldn't give him a green light to be tested. I suspect (I hope!) the response would be different now because we know more than we did even a couple of months ago, including how the symptoms can vary so widely from person to person. He's fine now. Although, since he works in an essential industry, I wish he'd get an antibodies test.

My girlfriend (who I live with) showed only a very mild illness. I guess we're both generally fit and healthy, doing lots of cross country rambling, though I may be a bit more vulnerable due to being on medication following a heart attack/stent 20 months ago. Whatever, we're still being careful until we get those antibodies test! Look after yourself Laura and everybody.
