One of the amazing thing about most of the great English rock/pop groups from the mid-sixties is that you could sync up the well known finished studio track to actual live footage and you'd barely know. These groups had their tried and true acts ingrained into their bodies and ran efficient coherent groups like clockwork. And The Hollies were most definitely up there on that list.

They also used a backing track for this song. This is why it is at the same tempo as the single, unlike many early live performances where they sped things up a bit.

Just to clarify things here. That video and the audio don't go together. Someone did an audio remix of Carrie Anne and a friend of his synced the audio to the 1968 video of the Split Croatia.
Peter is correct about the backing track being used in Carrie Anne during the Croatia video. Just watch the band looking for the steel band.
You will notice Tony not singing a part when it was his turn. He missed the start.
