For those that may have missed this, here is a clear extended well put together track from The Hollies...

Beautiful track, actually recorded live in Australia in 1970. The entire concert was filmed too and most of it issued in a documentary named "Don't Get Sunburnt" about the Hollies' first tour of Australia. Sadly it has never seen the light of day since it's initial broadcast.

I think there were brief snippets of footage from it near the start of the 1963-75 DVD a few years back; a shame it wasn't more.

Croatia '68, BBC In Concert '69, Finnish TV '69... hopefully it's just a matter of time before this gets rebroadcast too! One song has been circulating for years (albeit in ropey black & white):

I was looking for that video last night and couldn't find it! Thought it had been removed. Reeling In The Years (who published the LTAW DVD) have the full concert in B+W and snippets are seen at the beginning of the DVD, mainly the section where they play 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother). The concert is 40 minutes long. The audio has circulated privately over the years in very poor quality from a TV speaker to reel-to-reel recording done at the time when the concert was shown on TV. But the set sounds (from what I've heard so far) very good quality musically speaking and quite varied. They also have a concert from 1971, again in Australia, that like the Croatia Concert, wasn't broadcast at the time. That is in colour and about half an hour long.
Sadly I wrote to RITY and got a rather snarky reply from the MD himself; basically saying there was no interest or money in releasing the concerts officially. Sadly, so long as they reside in that archive slowly deteriorating as the years go by, they won't be seen again. We just got VERY lucky with the Croatia concert as a local TV company found it and chose to re-broadcast it. It's since been snapped up by RITY, so there goes ever seeing it again in better quality. Much like the audio for the Stockholm '66 Concert - which too survives perfectly in its entirety in the Hollies' vault. But "Hollies LTD" didn't want to stump up the cash to buy the rights to the cover songs that formed most of the set, so for now, we only "officially" get the three tracks on the Long Road Home boxset. Sadly, there's many great Hollies rarities out there that we might not ever get to hear - unless they get bootlegged as their copyright expires. It used to be 50 years but I think it was recently increased to 80 thanks to Cliff Richard. Only another 30 years to go!
