Critical thinking is essential. Without it, a person is thrown in with Boris Johnson, Donald Trump and their supporters. You can be a rational thinking person who has an opinion based on facts, or a mindless twit, it’s entirely up to you.

I agree, as long as you just don’t become a real negative person and one of The people I really can’t stand that they seem to believe “I say it how it is” as if they are the person in the right, opinions are what it is all about at times. bit like the views on the Hollies, some believe this line up is total crap and they should have given it away when Allan left, others believe this line up keep the great Hollies legacy going, who’s right, well nobody, it’s all about opinions. Just not sure when you say based on facts, who’s view of facts. Another example, Hollies recordings in the second half of the 70’s, I’ve heard some say how they love their beautiful ballads, well I hate those albums, so boring, way to slow. Hey who’s right? I do agree with your point, it’s good to have an opinion. thanks for your topic,

I think not being an extreme is usually a decent goal (at least outside of entertainment possibly). I'm also wary of grand visions and promises of perfection. I believe in objective reality which exists regardless of what I might like or want; if someone has done wrong, actively broken rules and laws, you are foolish to look the other way or make excuses regardless of personality. Would you hire or reward incompetence in running a business? I'd like competent representation, possibly even boring lack of personality, rather than co-called leadership.
One aspect of The Hollies I've admired is how they delivered top quality work and over a length of time with different members. Had a brand you could say as solid as The Beatles or The Shadows, not a load of hype or sheer noise for attention.
