Grew up loving the Monkees in the 60’s, sadly every thing does come to an end, to be honest I was shocked that Michael every returned to the group. In an Aussie interview he said he didn’t like Peter Tork also. They gave us so many great songs.

This worries me. I've been reading disturbing stories from long-time fans about how Nez's new personal assistant may be abusing him, keeping him stoned on pot and compliant. Recent videos of him have cropped up where he's a shell of his former self. Some have also suggested that he may be suffering from dementia. Naked Persimmon, a fan who used to be a friend of Nez's, writes about this on her Facebook page. Apparently lots of people from his past have been cut off by this new assistant... www.facebook.com/NPersimmon/

As for The Monkees, given half of the band has died and that they're getting older then it makes sense to hold a farewell tour and bring it to an end whilst they still can.
As for Nesmith, that is disturbing. Had no idea such a situation had developed. He hasn't had the healthiest of lives as he outlined in his strange autobiography and even when he did that Australian TV interview with Micky where he admitted he never liked Peter Tork but burst into tears as he recalled hearing about his death, he didn't look too great to me with a lot of blotches on his face. Seeing he's now more gaunt and erratic, I guess he's not a well man. One has to sit on the fence where this personal assistant is concerned as Nesmith has always been a very private and reclusive bloke, not one to talk directly (which was what made his Peter Tork admittal all the more stunning) so perhaps the PA is protecting him ferociously and shutting all the doors.
Sad all the same.

While I really enjoyed the live album they released last year (Micky's voice still holds up impressively well and I think they assembled a brilliant backing band inc. Mike's sons), I can fully understand them wanting to retire The Monkees' name soon. The two of them are able to put on a good show, but like many have said it's just not the same without Davy and Peter, plus Mike's health seems to be fluctating a lot these days. I also came across posts on the alleged "abuse" recently and I have to say for a long while I've thought something seemed something off about how much weight he's lost over the past year plus how he's often been high in recent pics and clips. If it is true, I can only pray he can be saved somehow and soon.
To try and lighten things, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Dolenz Sings Nesmith album. Love the nod to Nilsson Sings Newman in the teased cover art!
