I may be completely wrong with these but for a fun discussion, here's two different songs I've realised recently have quite similar parts to two Hollies compositions. Feel free to disprove these or suggest some more!
The first of these is connected to one of our other favourites here, The Everly Brothers. I realised last night that the way the "well, that's alright" line is sung in Peculiar Situation sounds a lot like the chorus of the Bros song It Only Costs A Dime, which was the B-side to the UK hit The Price of Love in 1965 and also on their In Our Image album the following year (the album just before Two Yanks btw). Of course knowing how big fans they were, I think it's very possible that part in PS was inspired so. 😏
This one I brought up a little further back on my Instagram. The verses of Sorry Suzanne and The Four Seasons' Let's Hang On to me have a similar thing going on with the progression and use of vibraphone, just that SS is a little slower in tempo. Hear what you think!
