Posting the link here again because I quite enjoyed the interview - He really came across as enthusiastic about his present activities and passionate about the state of the world in general. I guess the pandemic is really making us all more reflective and sentimental about what really matters in life...
But, forgive me if I missed this - have gone through past posts to catch up a bit but I've really been out of the loop about everything related to the Hollies in the past few years - did you all know Allan had a bout with cancer three years ago? My husband seems to have been aware, but unless I missed it in a recent interview, this is the first I heard of it.
He also mentions at the end that his anticipated collaboration with Graham has hit a snag as he's stuck in his Manhattan apartment with few tools to help the project progress. Allan's guessing maybe in a year - but also fears that our present lives will be stuck in pause mode for longer than expected, and hints that he's taking life one day at a time for whatever time he has left. Best way to deal, for sure, but his choice of words kind of threw me.
Or maybe that's how reflective people talk at the age of 78 and I'm reading too much into it? Anybody else had a listen to this?

Well, that's one more thing from my post about 2020 being a great year for us fans out the window. 😞 Neither Allan or the current Hollies can tour and now the Clarke/Nash collaboration is postponed. At least Bobby was still able to release his book and we've yet to hear about the archival release.

Just to be clear, Allan says "I live myself a day at a time", which was in the context of talking about the lyrics of "He Ain't Heavy." I take his words to mean in the context of life, living, his late age, in the grand scheme of things. He does not say "for whatever time I have left." That would imply something more dire, but he did not say that...

That being said, didn't imagine the first part - that was at 6:57 or so.

He best be sticking around for a bit - the recording deal with BMG was allegedly for TEN YEARS! I don't know who found that out, but it was reported in a few places at the time when his album was released.
I think it was his daughter Piper who had the bout of cancer a few years ago, he said this in an interview fairly recently when asked if he regretted stepping away from the Hollies and he said that his family needed him during that time anyway.
He's often said that he's taking one day at a time, but usually it's in reference to surviving his wife Jeni's ordeal with cancer... twice. He often speaks of how neither of them take their time for granted any more and do all they can. It's obviously a good way to live because both of them look absolutely fantastic for their age!
