remixpacks.ru/load/25-1-0-8326I use this website to grab some multitracks every now and then to remix songs I love (if they're available) and was amazed to see they got one of Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress. The only Hollies one I know of! For those not experienced in music editing/mixing, etc; This has 4 FLAC files (lossless MP3s, really) of the individual tracks, however if you use a (free) music program like Audacity, you can split the 4 stereo tracks into mono, which gives you eight full tracks. This way you can mix it entirely how you want - both vocals of Allan, both guitar takes (which are different!), two bass tracks, and what I found most impressive, Bobby's bass drum and then his snare and cymbals as separate tracks. Listening to Allan's vocals in stereo without the instruments in the back is quite haunting too. Most will find of it interest particularly for the ending, which does NOT fade out like the version we all know. I think you can hear some small things obscured in the studio recording too. I hope this is of use to the super fans here!

This is a superb find, well done! I really enjoyed picking the track apart. It may be one of Bobby's simplest drum patterns, but he's like a machine! Absolutely metronomic.
It's interesting to hear the 'dead' ending. Perhaps they intended to fade it out all along. It was the same surprise when we got a studio mix of 'On A Carousel' with a dead ending. It goes to show how good engineer Peter Brown was to completely splice the ending together to create a fade out.
Thanks for sharing these, I shall have some fun with those tracks!

This is amazing!!!! Thanks for posting this.
I could listen to Allan's vocal track all night! Yes, haunting is a good word. Also amazing, awesome, brilliant.....I could go on, but you get the idea.
Bobby mastered the art of simple, but effective scores played with precision. Wow!
Off to listen again.....

Is it possible to make a surround DVD audio 5.1 disc of this?

Extremely glad to hear that. I couldn't agree more, Bobby has absolutely impeccable timing. It really is, I didn't expect it and was quite shocked when I first heard it. You're more than welcome, glad I can finally share some of my Hollies web finds with people who may appreciate them!

I only wish we could take off a little of that giant reverb/echo off of his voice and hear it as it was, but nonetheless it's still quite amazing as it is! He sure did, Bobby's one of the most underrated drummers ever... Enjoy!

That was very kool !!
Eye deer: Allan and John Fogerty oughta do a double sided charity single together, John does "Long Cool Woman", Allan does Creedence "Green River".
Far out !!

Sorry, a bit of a ranty post up ahead - I've heard that remix before but I don't like it, even if the 16 million views it has disagree. I think LCW is just perfect and more effective of a song at the classic 3:20 length.
Something else that irritates me a little from the slideshow is one of the picture sleeves for LCW uses a '68 image featuring Graham. How far behind on promotional pictures did you have to be?! I'm probably being overly picky about this, but what was it about some single sleeves using several year old images of the artist on their latest release back then? I've seen a few international later-period Beatles sleeves (Strawberry Fields Forever, Lady Madonna, Hey Jude) before and they use '64-66 mop top era pictures on the front.
Rant over. I swear I do like some things! 😂

I think LCW is just perfect and more effective of a song at the classic 3:20 length. Thoroughly agree. For a song that I always enjoy, this "remix" ended up boring me, outstaying its welcome and diluting it's impact and charm. At least the remixer did get the basic idea right - using nothing but what The Hollies recorded as opposed to too many "remixes" which end up having modern beats and general tosh plastered on. Addition : I did download the stems and had a bash at remixing it myself but it's a rare occasion where I had to admit defeat as there was nothing I could actually add or change as what they got in 1971 is perfect! Very frustrating the reverb on Allan's vocals were "built in" and I do have de-reverb software but that sounded lousy when applied. It was fun listening to it it minus the guitars though.

There's also this one which was made during their late 80s stay on the German Coconut label:
Not really a fan of this either, plus it does exactly what Sandy is talking about above. I've yet to hear the "special disco version" of Draggin' My Heels, but I'm surprised songs like Wiggle That Wotsit, Daddy Don't Mind or Star didn't get extended disco 12" versions. Those three songs I feel actually might have worked well!

I think I'm gonna have a nightmare tonight at the thought of that!

I remember, because that's my childhood home.It was near the old police station. (....😂😂😂I have NO idea why you needed to know that!!!!!😂😂)
