Well, how about this for a curio! Keith Badman has just alerted me to this snippet of rare Hollies footage, found within 'Holiday Parade', a promotional Channel Islands special put together by Channel TV c.1965-66. This sequence - from Part 4 (part of an original TV hour special) features a trip around Jersey including The Hollies going for a spin in go-karts. Location is the go-kart track within the Belle Vue Pleasure Park, an amusement park which opened in 1960 and only shut down in 1992.
Bobby Elliott has since confirmed this as being dated 24 July 1964 while The H were in town in Jersey on their first visit Channel Islands tour. They made their next appearance in Jersey in August 1966 but this is clearly not from then, Eric Haydock - gone by Aug 1966 - is seen in the second last go-kart to wizz past the camera.
In order, I think it's (1) Nash, (2) Elliott with dark glasses sticking his tongue out, (3) Jay Vickers or Rod Shields (tour support staff), (4) Hicks (5) Haydock, sticking out his tongue, (6) Clarke (most likely).
The Hollies' pertinent section occurs between 4.14-4.53.
Nice spin out from Nash as Elliott (I think) only narrowly avoids a major spill as he leaves the track.
Good to see this type of footage of the band being filmed while relaxing for a change- there is otherwise not much of it round.
cheers Simon

Amazing indeed! This is the kinda footage we normally only see on lesser pop groups like The Beatles and The Dave Clark Five.

Hi my name is Doug Norris. I remember the Hollies well as my mother owned the cafe and part of the track. I was also working there at the time and started the kart's for them I can always remember, we were having lunch outside and this tall guy ( he was wearing cuben heels) turned up wearing a bright red shirt and a grey jacket with a black velvet coller , he also had his hair in a Buffon He introduced himself as the singer from the Hollies, he was very polite, nothing like the twits from the rolling stones who were rude and were only interested in getting cheap egg and chips for mom. To tell the truth we had every pop group that year including the Beatle s . Great memories

Thanks for the recollections here Doug - great to get an eyewitness account of the day! Hi Simon! A few years ago I found a great promo press picture of the Hollies visiting Jersey. The Hollies (Graham, Allan, Tony and Bobby) on the beach with BIG DEE IRWIN and LINDA DOLL. The Hollies place a board with LINDA DOLL on it on BIG DEE IRWIN's back. So it must be from when Eric Haydock broke up with the Hollies. The clip with the Hollies in the karts also only shows the 4 Hollies Boys listed above. Nothing from Eric or even Bernie.
