I found this LP many years ago at a local record fare. I almost passed it up. It didn't have a tracklistin on the cover. As at time I was a completist I decided to get it and upon playing it I thought the sound was pretty muddy and so almost put it away and didn't listen to it. The first track on side 2 was Magic Woman Touch. I thought this can't be right. It wasn't the correct version but a more acoustic version. This track is in mono as is the whole LP. It has been release a couple of times legitimately now especially on the Epic Anthology CD. Around the time I found this LP Raven records were seriously thinking of doing a Hollies Rarities LP. This was just before the UK Rarites LP came out and I guess that is the major reason for it not being done by Raven although theirs was going to be quite different. Sure it would have had several track the same but there were others planned. One was the alternate Magic Woman Touch. Another was Johnny B Goode from the 83 tour of NZ.I was assisting them at the time and went to one of the guys place to listen to some tapes they had been supplied by EMI. I was played MWT and it was the stereo version we all know. I was gobsmacked on hearing that after the muddy mono version I had in my collection.
This is a little off the point though. Do any of you serious Hollies collectors/fans out there know where this LP comes from. There is not one bit of information on the sleeve or the record itself to give any clues? Does anyone else have a copy? Does anyone know anything about it?
I have just created a digital copy of the LP and am at present going through the tracks to see if there are any other variations on that LP.
I will come back with a track listing and give my additional thoughts about the LP after hearing it a couple of times.
