Two of the members went on to be part of the psychedelic group Andwella's Dream. Their album 'Love and Poetry' is a cult psyche classic. But I think perhaps the key to this record being valuable is Allan Clarke's contributions. Without doubt he's singing on this record...
It was recorded during the summer of 1967 when the Hollies were on hiatus while Bobby Elliott recovered from his appendicitis incident. Allan, Graham and Tony all looked to production, using the 'Hollies Ltd.' as a production company.

If this is Allan's first (and only?) time as a sole producer, he did a brilliant job here 😊 I get very Odessey And Oracle vibes from this song, just missing some Mellotron! 😏
Not to put down the great efforts of Ron Richards, but if Allan could do this, I wonder how the Butterfly album might have sounded with him producing?

Not only. He also produced a single for Gary Walker of the Walker Brothers back in 1975. A cover of the Easybeats' "Hello, How Are You"...Very lovely!

Haven't really listened closely to this before, though I knew of it.I love this....may be from 75, but has a great retro vibe about it. Very Allan 👌😊 And on eBay if anyone is interested? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264265661024

Wow! More production magic! 😁 And I could be wrong, but it sounds like Allan himself that comes in at 2:48. That vocal part sounds very reminiscent of the "baby, bathe in my glow" line from Star!

Don't forget this linked gem recorded around the same time as the Societie single, 'Coming From The Ground' by the Swedish group the Lee Kings, co-produced by Allan and Graham.

Charlie and Fred! 😀 Also I think it's well confirmed Allan liked to sing on his productions now. 😂

The drums are pure Bobby Elliot and the sliding guitar solo is textbook Tony Hicks. The Hollies indeed cut a track called 'Ashes To Ashes' in 1967, which is rumoured to be their version of 'Coming From The Ground', which of course features that line...
