I put this out on Facebook but, other than from the wonderful Sandy, there's been no uptake as yet, so putting it out here to you kind folk... "Just going to throw this out there, in the hope someone can assist but does anyone recall the timeline whereupon Durban Laverde stepped in on bass for a UK tour, and Bernie Clarke was added on keyboards ? To my understanding, both were on the (I think) 1990 UK tour, with Durban standing in for Steve Stroud/Ray Stiles. Then Bernie Clarke was kept onboard for the 1991 jaunt, playing the bass keyboards until Ray was brought back. Does this jog any memories ?" It now appears I'm about five years ahead of my time and it was mid-80s (put it down to a lousy memory) - but was anyone here in attendance for the duel keyboard tour, when a bass keyboard was utilised instead of the real thing ? Year ? Touring members at the time ?? All help appreciated...

It doesn't ring any bells with me, Malc. I saw the Hollies quite a number of times in the 80s and the keyboard player then was either Paul Bliss, Hans-Peter Arnesen, Denis (or Francis as he is now called) Haines or Dave Carey and the bass player was either Steve Stroud or Ray Stiles.

I agree with John, I saw them in 1984,1986 and 1988 and each time I am pretty sure it was with any of those John mentions as supporting members
Jamie Moses stood in for Alan Coates a few times when Alan was unwell or had personal issues in the 80's but otherwise I can only recall it was the usual faces on any of the UK shows I attended
- BUT having said that another guy named 'Clarke' being mentioned does ring a bell with me re The Hollies maybe not re any show I attended but from somewhere (I will look up old 'Carousel' issues again !)
I remember that Lindisfarne had a guy named Alan Clark as a supporting musician with them in the 80's and I probably confused that as I saw both bands quite often in those days...maybe it was indeed BERNIE Clarke who was doing one of the 80's Hollies shows I was told about by others ?

It never plays a guy called Bernie Clarke with the Hollies. I think that this is the first name from Bernie Calvert (Bernie) and the second name from Allan Clarke (Clarke). Hope my list helps.

Sorry, but Durban and Bernie C were definitely there - or else the promotional photo I have is telling me porkies (and they have since confirmed it - but neither could confirm the year). Bernie was also keyboard player for Aztec Camera for a while too...

Dates are unclear, but a tour indeed.
Bernie Clarke.. "Alan Coates and I had been signed to a publishing deal in 79 and he asked me and Durban to do it. We didn’t have any rehearsals just quick sketches of the songs on scraps of paper! It was the whole tour of English dates. Mostly Midlands."
Durban Laverde... ", I know it was in 85 I think, cause I was rehearsing with Jimmy Page and took a break to do that tour, .. a mate of mine is playing with them now, Ian Parker... "

Also Alex Belfield of Talk Radio interview with Bobby from 2015 (you can skip the annoying ads inserted by youtube) Thanks for this. ...a bit struck by how much more tired and hesitant Bobby now sounds in the last lot of interviews ,compared to then, 5years ago. I do think age is catching up.. If they cannot tour next year, have to say, I think that will be the end? ( Sorry, not doom mongering, just facts..?? There's nowhere to hide for a drummer, it's exhausting,as is their usual touring schedule. It's one thing wheeling Charlie Watts out once in a blue moon, and saying isn't it wonderful, but quite another touring on the scale that the Hollies have been doing for years!!!

In one 1967 interview Bobby sounded really eloquent. The last one I heard, he was stammering so much. Not sure whether it's also being out of practice with interviews or being asked to recall stuff from 50 years ago. I hate to say age...maybe I'm in denial but my Dad doesn't sound any different when he talks than he did all my life, and he's almost 90!

" I was thinking that it was 1988 since 1988 was the very first year Jimmy Page toured as a solo name with his own band. And I do believe I saw another quote where Durban said it was between legs of the Outrider Tour (which was in 1988).

It looks like Durban Laverde's and Bernie Clarke's tenure was in early to mid 1988 as shown on the videos here:

I think the guys here we're possibly ' in house' Coconut records guys, as I don't think either of these are Durban or Bernie?( I may of course be wrong!!)

After looking at that pic of Durban and Bernie in Malc's book, I think you are right, Sandy, and the two blonde guys in the videos are NOT Durban Laverde and Bernie Clarke. Oddly enough, Alan Coates is not even in the second video.
But I believe the year of 1988 is correct for the year of their tenure since Durban has said he was in The Hollies just before he toured with Jimmy Page for Outrider (which was in late 1988).
I wonder who the two blonde guys are then. Perhaps they ARE in house Coconut guys, as Sandy has surmised.

The Archive Alive release notes Peter Anderson on piano, the Reunion release notes him as Pete Anderson. I'm not 100% sure Clarkey says Peter's surname as Anderson in his group rundown in LCW. Was this person actually Peter Arnesen? Two keyboard players seems likely in such synth-heavy times, which makes me think this was Arnesen.

He did keyboard on the 1982 Mainz concert, so presume he was kept on.
