A cover of The Beatles' 'Yes It Is' could've made a good single (far better than 'If I Needed Someone'), and I wish Graham Gouldman had given them 'No Milk Today'! Now that you mention The Beatles,..."This Boy", would have been a good candidate too... They did something even better imo, updating an old standard with a "This Boy" type arrangement (apparently this topped the charts in South Africa and Rhodesia!): |

I've always loved The Searchers' version of "Take It Or Leave It" The Clarke-Hicks-Nash formation might even have done a better job...

'Take It Or Leave It' for some reason popped into my head as Herman's Hermits' 'Take Or Leave Your Loving' which I can totally imagine the Hollies singing with a passionate lead vocal from Allan.
