Hi All,
Hope everyone is keeping well in these very strange times.
I’ve been working very hard writing a book for the past 12 months, and , with impeccable bad timing(!), I published it today - see below.
All the best,
Peter C.
NEW BOOK: ‘LET’S STOMP!’ (PRESS RELEASE, 31st March 2020)Question: What do ‘Halfway To Paradise’ by Billy Fury, ‘Sweets For My Sweet’ by The Searchers, ‘Do You Love Me’ by Brian Poole and The Tremeloes, ‘The Hippy Hippy Shake’ by The Swinging Blues Jeans, ‘Silhouettes’ by Herman’s Hermits and ‘Sorrow’ by The Merseys ALL have in common? Answer: As well as all being timeless classics of course, they were all covers of songs originally recorded by American artists, in these cases, respectively, Tony Orlando, The Drifters, The Contours, Chan Romero, The Rays and The McCoys. Rock ‘n’ Roll, Rhythm ‘n’ Blues, Jazz, Country, Folk, Blues, Pop, Soul, Girl Groups, Musicals... these are just some of the American music genres that inspired The Brits, who ultimately would come up with many new musical genres of their own. Covering the dozen or so years from the dawn of Rock ‘n’ Roll & Skiffle in 1954 to the decline of the Beat Groups in 1967, and featuring over 2000 songs and 1500 different artists, this book really is the ultimate guide to the music that changed the world. NOTE: Below is the link to the e-book version; the paperback should appear within the next 48 hours or so. Keep checking on Amazon, or alternatively email me and I’ll let you know when it’s available: peterchecksfieldauthor@gmail.com www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B086LG82KQStay safe! Peter Checkfield

Thanks Peter! FYI for everyone, the Amazon 'look inside' feature is working on the e-book link above, though not yet on the physical book link (though it might be soon?).

Thanks Peter! FYI for everyone, the Amazon 'look inside' feature is working on the e-book link above, though not yet on the physical book link (though it might be soon?). This often takes a few days, and it also it takes them a while to link the two together. I would personally recommend the paperback, as this is a nicely formatted book in A4 size, and with the main manuscript presented in two neat (and highly informative!) columns.

Looks absolutely fascinating Peter, I'll probably grab the Kindle copy as it doesn't appear to ship to Australia. Just one question regarding the paperback copy - is it properly published in a magazine sort of format with images and illustrations?

Just one question regarding the paperback copy - is it properly published in a magazine sort of format with images and illustrations? Thank you! There's no images or illustrations in the paperback, but it does have a professional-looking lay-out, also a detailed artists index so you can quickly find pages that mention (say) The Hollies. I'm not sure why the paperback isn't listed on the Australian site when my other books are. Maybe it will show up in due course?

Thanks Peter! FYI for everyone, the Amazon 'look inside' feature is working on the e-book link above, though not yet on the physical book link (though it might be soon?). I've changed the e-book version around, so you'll now see a lot more of the main book if you "look inside": www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B086LG82KQI should add though, it is not displaying that great on amazon, as the small black boxes should be black stars (representing my favourite cover versions), and the larger black squares should be squiggles separating each section

Amazon UK does not ship to Australia due to a VAT/GST type taxation requirement put in place by the Australian Government a year or so ago (with regard to international retailers). Interestingly, it is business as usual with Amazon USA.
Therefore, I am hoping that the paperback version turns up on either the Amazon Australia or Amazon USA sites in due course.
From a quick look at the book, it is a MUST BUY! Well done Peter. A superb achievement by you!
From an Aussie perspective, many of our artists in the 50's and 60's covered USA artists but also many British artists, particularly the beat groups. So this book will help us Down Under to "close the loop".

Thanks for this Peter. Unfortunately, Amazon USA advised that it is not shipping the paperback to Australia. This is a surprise as I recently bought some CDs from them, admittedly before the coronavirus pandemic. It is possible that there may be a change to previous trading arrangements due to the pandemic. I will now acquire the digital version even though I am not keen on the Kindle or e-readers in general (I do like my iPad though).

Congrats Peter, you got a 4-star review in Shindig #104 due out June 4 !! Yes, so I'm informed! Can't wait to see it. I've been fortunate in that every book so far has received several great reviews, with even the worse ('Mojo' review for 'Channelling The Beat!') getting 3 stars and a reasonable enough recommendation.

Haha, I was talking about a Mr. Sylvester of course! It was a fun book to do, even though most of the actual movies are beyond dreadful (some of those "beach" movies make Elvis Presley seem like a potential Oscar winner). I didn't know you write Laura? Would love to see your work if/when published. I encourage everyone to write (I can think of 2 or 3 other regular posters on here who undoubtedly have a book or two in them). I now plan to have a few months off catching up on other peoples' books! Just read The Shadows' early 80s autobiography (surprisingly frank) and have several more tomes awaiting my parusal.

I love bad movies. I had a friend who used to collect them. Lots of fun to watch! I'm making lemonade with the lemons I have, Peter; using the lockdown (with my elderly parents here in Canada) to finally get the novel in my head for the last 40 years finally out on paper. Never written so much in my life; quite proud of myself. When it's readable, I'll let y'all know!

You have been busy, Peter. I've dropped hints to my two sons about Father's Day gifts - this new book and Let's Stomp. Hope I don't end up with 'Peppa Pig: Stomp and Roar'!

Thanks for this John! I only got my own copy of 'Untamed Youth!' last night, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good most of the screenshots look on what is just standard paper.
