I saw the US version of The Sweet recently. Previously the band was great, with a terrific vocalist named Joe Retta. Now there's a new guy, and he is SO bad. The Sweet now suffers from the same malady as the present day Hollies; featuring an unlikable, mediocre frontman. After a few songs it became apparent to myself and my friend Marty that it was too painful to hear and watch, so we left. We didn't even stay long enough to hear Little Willy. The guy was such a chatty cathy that Steve Priest (who had to remain seated for health reasons) at one point said, "Shut the F%#@ up!". Maybe it's time for Steve to quit, or else patch things up with Retta.

That's no good, maybe they need to just give the game away, two versions of sweet. I have only seen the US version on youtube and they were ordinary at very best. so now they are worse according to you. The Hollies have a spring tour in 2020, after their last tour when audience members were seen running from the theatres I will be surprise if they sell many tickets.

Interestingly, Pete Lincoln, lead singer, has left, apparently to concentrate on his activities with Frontm3n, featuring Peter Howarth and, from a later version of 10cc, Mick Wilson.

Never heard of this - not good. I'm shocked! Most people I've seen at latter day Hollies concerts don't seem capable of running.

Yes maybe a quick step, anyway not sure why we are talking about sweet here, I know someone was criticised for talking about Graham Nash on this site and he was a Hollies original member. Funny I would imagine some Sweet fans may even like the new singer .

Bummer. Fine bassist and singer, one always got a smile from his campy antics on TV! 2020 can go and do one as far as I'm concerned.

Sad news. I saw them a few times in the 1970s and they were a great live band.

Yes, sad news. Spent an hour or two watching some Sweet clips on YouTube last night. Found a video from 2018, backstage, where Steve looked awful. Not that he said to much as an utterly irritating individual managed to do most of the talking, presumably a band member.
