Race to the "Fan-club video" website. Yes, The Hollies' Feb. 16, 1973 USA telecast of "In Concert" has FINALLY surfaced! Now we can see the full 5-song set in all its magnificence. Witness Rickfors taking center stage for "Bus Stop" and actually smiling!

Despite what any naysayers may put out, "In Concert" complete is for me the holy grail of Hollies video. Simply tremendous. The band was never more rocking and right on.

It will be very interesting to finally see the complete In Concert and also Lady Please. I see one of the websites other DVDs includes this:
SILVERSTER-TANZPARTY 1977 1. Burn Out 2. I’m Down 3. Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress 4. Write On
Anyone know anything about this? I think it is the first footage of Burn Out I've heard of. Is this live?

Amazing that rare footage is still surfacing, even if some of it is poor quality or has voice overs! Personally I grade Hollies footage from 1 to 5 in desirability (1 = I can't live without it, 5 = not important):
1 = 1963-1968 2 = 1969-1974 3 = 1975-1983 4 = 1984-1999 5 = 2000 onwards (wish there was more on the Carl Wayne years though)
I don't think anything could quite excite me as much as the Croatia '68 footage (surely THE Hollies video find, at least during the past decade) though I'd love to be proven wrong!

Bizarre and almost insulting to The H. One big dancing stage where The Hollies plod through these songs - interrupted by guests talking - and from memory, most of the songs aren't fully complete. Similarly, the camera work is mostly from a distance with few close ups. This is all going off the first and only time I viewed it. It's like watching a bunch of people dancing with a backing band occasionally getting a look in. (is this the same special where Swedish solo singer Harpo ('Moviestar') does some rather awkward body miming and dancing - or am I getting confused with something else). Anyhoo Stranger, if you don't have this footage, you aren't missing much!

I think I was more genuinely excited about the TOTP Bus Stop being unearthed but yep, this was a BIG Hollies day when my mate, who had a contact in Croatia, told him of a Hollies special screened locally there. (And if I can give another little plug to my ongoing writing for the eBook, one article will feature a look at 27 lost Hollies TV appearances...and several found ones too!)

The Croatia concert was amazing, one of my favourites so far but the audio isn't very good on it. It sounds like it was recorded over something else but the erase head didn't kick in and there's high pitched "squealing" over the first half of the concert. My other favourite was the Abbey Road footage of them recording On A Carousel.
In terms of what could still be out there, the 'Don't Get Sunburnt' concert is one I'm very vocal about. It survives, it's complete and it's in full colour. A complete 50 minute Hollies concert from 1971!! I'm just dying to see it and I even went as far as to email Reelin In The Years about it but their (quite rude) response basically said that there was no money in releasing it so they wouldn't.
Other desirables are the various TV performances they did during November 1967 - April 1968 on their world tour of Scandanavia (appearing in full psychedelic mode amongst a studio full of love heart balloons), Europe (a clip of Dear Eloise from a German TV show recently appeared on YouTube with Nash playing the harmonium but it's since been deleted sadly) and of course, Japan where they made many TV appearances including one in traditional Japanese dress to sing a tradition Japanese folk song!! I bet they all survive somewhere as none of the countries mentioned have a reputation for throwing any footage away. We can only wait and see.
I've also heard a rumour that the footage used on the 1967 "Rock Revolution" film from a package tour of America with Herman's Hermits survives and it was a full concert that was recorded, albeit a short 20-25 minute set. Interestingly, I spoke to someone who went to every Hollies concert that they did in his state in 1967 and again in 1968 and he vividly remembers a TV crew being at two of the concerts. I'm not holding my breath, but you never know!
For me, collecting video bootlegs is an absolute minefield so I just wait for things to be released officially or for when they're posted on YouTube. People are charging a fortune for these as well - $85 for that Hollies DVD! I'd love to see them perform Lady Please and the whole Rickfors concert but not for $85 when they're of unknown quality!

No, nothing else that I can recall, but I remember vividly the Julie Felix show, I can even remember that as I was recording we were eating and you could hear the odd clunk of cutlery on my recording.......!!!

Oh yes, the TOTP clip created a major stir, and not just among Hollies fans either (it gave hope to Beatles fans that their one and only performance in the TOTP studio survives somewhere). Looking forward to the book!

Some interesting stuff on this DVD.
The live or part live Lady Please was a bit of a let down after years of wanting to see it, Going To The Zoo actually works well as a fun piece. The Hollies give it plenty of enthusiasm.
Australian Bandstand - part live? A lot of it is suspiciously similar to the BBC In Concert. I wonder did the Hollies lug special recorded backing tracks or similar around the world for shows like this?
It's really good to see the Rickfors In Concert complete and in decent quality. It's a pity Bus Stop is a shortened version and edited Long Cool Woman is a disgrace! They are giving a really lively performance of their current hit and it is truncated. They are rocking on it. It's also very unexpected to see Terry playing the organ on He Ain't Heavy, they were really mixing it up during this period.

Sounds great! Is 'Going To The Zoo' a duet with Julie Felix (similar to that 'Louisiana Man' duet with Bobbie Gentry)? It's certainly a song associated with her.

So this DVD is "legit" then? You have to buy it, can't view it online? Don't want to send my money off and never see it again!

What's the picture quality like on Lady Please and going to the Zoo, Plus Sandy is said to be promo, was it the midnight special clip? Thanks for you report Stranger
