Just in case you didn't know, today (7th September) the Hollies' official website was updated and re-launched. Even just looking at the homepage, it's MILES better than the old one. There's lots more information too, even an up to date online sessionography! Here it is: www.hollies.co.uk

It's been completely redesigned so I'm not sure what website you're looking at. On the home page you get a slideshow of their album covers and it features the latest news from the Hollies. Their tour dates are also listed further down. It's generally laid out better with links to the various pages at the top now and a bit more information has been added. I do have to say though, you get the full effect of it on a desktop, it's not quite the same when viewing on a mobile device.

I don't see anything like you mention, just the site as I have always known it. I use the www link you supplied and still the old one. Am I missing something here with the way I am logging in.

I still get the old front page but if you then click on the news tab, you get the new-look website. Try that and see if it works.

Interesting. cleaned out my computer using crap cleaner and I am able to access the new site using internet explorer. When I use Mozella Firefox it still takes me to the old site (great cause I use stuff on that old site).
Looking at the new site on IE my favourite piece of the old site appears to be missing. In the music archive section it listed all the UK singles, EPs and LPs with approz release dates. I can't seem to locate this on the new site. I hope they don't let that go. It has so much valuable information. Can't see the fan forum on the new site as well.
If those 2 sections are missing I hope there is some plan to include both in the site at some future date.
Some interesting additional information on the new site like the sessionography has been updateed to include some more information up to 1995.
The Information section doesn't work.

Rob has recently changed the site in The Music tab so that the music archive appears in the drop down tab. Prior it meant clicking on the Music tab to be able to see the archive. Made it difficult to find.
Thanks Rob for the change. Was my favourite section on the older site.

Yes, sorry, meant the forum, mustn't say anything derogatory about the tribute band.........!! I was banned for "6 months" nearly a decade ago, and any attempts to get back on there since have been rejected! Not that I'm missing much... Agree though, the revamped site looks much better.

Yes, sorry, meant the forum, mustn't say anything derogatory about the tribute band.........!! I take your point, but I'm not sure the current group could be called a 'tribute band'. To my ear, they sound nothing remotely like the classic Hollies.

I never even got accepted! How can they vet people like that? Do you think the moderator sits sifting through this forum for hours and creates a blacklist? Not that anyone should be bothered as not much goes on with that forum anyway. I think the "hardcore" fans are mostly on this one, keeping us up to date with all things Hollies all over the world as well as engaging in interesting conversation. I do think with that being the "official" forum, banning and blocking fans is a bad reflection on the current line up as the moderator must have had their orders from somewhere... quite sad really.
The age old argument about the current line up wages on. I think it's great that they're still on the road as the Hollies and making many fans happy, but to my ears sound nothing like the band as they were. That high harmony has gone and Peter Howarth's voice is a big contrast to any of the Hollies' previous lead singers who've always had untrained but very powerful voices. Everything has mellowed a bit because they are a band after all. They move with the times and develop. We give them a hard time now but they're only battling the same critics that accused the Hollies's sound of being "lost" when Mikael Rickfors first replaced Allan Clarke in 1972.

One thing Is readily apparent: Elevated Observations and The Official Hollies website are certainly a study in contrasts.
Without doubt, the Official site was designed for one purpose only, that being to protect and promote the current incarnation of 'The Hollies'. I think that's why any poster that would dare say anything remotely negative about the group is banned. It also explains why so little conversation about the group pre-Howarth is present. It's sad in a way because it belies a lack of faith in the 'now Hollies', as if they are so fragile that any negative commentary will cause the entire ramshackle edifice to collapse. And so what we are largely left with is rarely anything more than puerile conversation, only amusing for its total vapidity.
In my opinion, Elevated Observations attracts, broadly speaking, two types of Hollies fans: Those new to the group, with a thirst for Hollies knowledge, eager to explore every nook and cranny of The Hollies' long and varied career. And boy, have they come to the right place! Because the second type of fans here are the long term Hollies hardcore fanatics, who share a wealth of information and opinions on the group, and as Cameron rightly stated, and this is vital, points of view from all over the world. Yes, strongly-held opinions, strongly-voiced can often lead to heated debate and yes, feathers can get ruffled and noses put out of joint, but at the end of the day, we're all better off for it. We might not come to a consensus on certain points, but I feel we are all constantly learning, always adding to our knowledge of our favourite band, even if only incrementally.
As the old saying goes, 'to each his own', and Hollies fans can choose: One forum is full of depth and diverse opinion. The other is tightly controlled, censored of all thoughts deemed harmful to 'Today's Hollies'', and if you're not a total cheerleader for today's version of the group, your presence is not wanted. For me it's an easy choice: Elevated Observations all the way!
