Hi all,
I wonder has anyone good photos of the band from 1970; I love adding different images to different songs from albums on the ipod. I've got a few from tumblr and Google images, but would love to see more.
I like the colour photo from the Gasoline Alley Bred single, colourful shirts, sitting on steps. I saw before this picture on its own, without the single title on it - simply the photo itself.
Okay, here's what I've got that I believe to be from 1970, but I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong on any of them.
The original image on a paper insert that was included with the UK first pressing of 'Confessions Of The Mind'. Why this wasn't the cover, I don't know because it should have been!
There's another version of the bottom photograph which is in the Long Road Home box set booklet, and was in the insert with the 'Four Hollies Originals' release. I always thought it was one of the best shots of the band in that era looking all mean and moody! A variant of the top two is one where the guys are standing against a log pile, and I think there's also that one of them peering out through broken windows too.

Thanks very much for those Cameron; I agree the first one should have been the album cover! The final one also was the single cover for 'Hey Willy's methinks - great photo though!
Much appreciated
I'm trying to decrease the size slightly on the last 'moody' photo to have it fit ipod screen; not being the most computer literate, what is best programme to just slightly decrease size?

Thanks for that Peter; some great shots I've seen already; pity no year is assigned to many, but, I can make many out anyway.
If someone has the Gasoline Alley Bred colour photo, sans single title, that's the real one I seek; justlove that photo!
I could go nuts posting but it's hard to know what you've seen & haven't seen.
Here's the version of the "steps" pic that I dig the most (handiwork of erstwhile EO member Baz...despite it being on the Gasoline sleeve I would say it dates from '69):

Hi Roots! Please doc go nuts posting!^ I've seen really only the above from other kind posters and a few more- is there any chance to get that photo of them on the steps that you posted without the talk bubbles?? That's the one I've been seeking!
I don't seem to have a copy of the steps white suits pic without any kind of lettering on it, sorry.
Here's a bunch. I may be off here and there, i.e., some of these might be late '69 or early '71. Keeping up with TH's hairdos is not an exact science you know.
Muziek Expres, not sure of the exact dates...I have multiple copies of these two but the date labels on them vary. Could even be late '69 but I'm not gonna fret over it.
These are credited on the Europhoto site as being from a TV program "4 3 2 1 Hot & Sweet," Nov. 21 1970.
Save show I guess, from some compilation album cover.
These are all from the German mag Bravo. I have one set labeled 4/20/1970 (scans from Marina) and one set labeled 4/20/1971 (scans from Vrinda), but they look like '70 to me and I just crossed-referenced it with a fan club letter from early 70 that mentions a German tour at that time...so I'm gonna run with '70.
Here's a little something I saw on eBay just now...on the Julie Felix Show, which according to this site aired on April 26, 1970. The seller says they played "Lady Please" and accompanied Julie on her song "Going to the Zoo."
Thanks for sharing roots66 some nice photos there that I haven't seen before. The 'unknown' TV show photo is from the Rolf Harris Show (BBC) but I'm not sure on what date they appeared. There used to be a clip of 'Frightened Lady' from the show on YouTube that sadly has been taken down. Would love to see it again. Interesting that they were playing that track and 'Lady Please' in 1970, pushing a few album tracks which was unusual for the Hollies. It's a shame how few of their TV appearances have actually survived!

Excellent!! Thanks so much roots, some great shots there. I'd always wondered where the white suits and Tony with beard ('promoting 'I can't tell the bottom from the top' as mentioned above) came from.
Much appreciated
I like the write up on 'Confessions' - I honestly think it's one of their greatest albums; so many top class tracks on it.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that, perhaps because the clip is in black & white as opposed to the color shot.

Wonderful clip of "Frightened Lady" - I'd never seen that before. I think it's a wonderful song, and along with 'Lady Please', two of the shining lights on the excellent Confessions album!
