A legend, though to be honest it is for Blind Date that I really know her.
A nice performance of this Hicks/Lynch song:

Nice indeed. She did some surprisingly good stuff through the 60s and 70s.
I always thought it a shame that later generations only knew her from 'Blind Date' (and perhaps 'Surprise Surprise'), while her 6os contemporaries hooked up with modern acts to both revive their careers and appeal to younger generations (Dusty with The Pet Shop Boys, Sandie with The Smiths, Lulu with Take That). Still, Cilla probably made more money than any of those.
I'm sure those in the USA and some other countries don't realise what a big star she remained over here. Her death is on the front page of every national newspaper.

Listening to Radio 2 this morning, some really nice comments from the public about her. One person recalled that she was a dancer on Top Of The Pops, and after a performance, she shared a lift with Cilla who commented something along the lines of 'Gotta get these boots off chuck, my feet are killing me'. Very earthy, despite her obvious showbiz career.

I remember Cilla telling a story about when she appeared in pantomime and she asked the audience 'How can I make this nasty ogre disappear?' and a young kid on the front row shouted back 'Sing to him!'
That was typical humour from Cilla and she will be sadly missed.

If I had never been stationed in the UK, I would have never known what a huge star Cilla was. Sadly, apart from "You're My World" and "Anyone Who Had a Heart", Cilla's music never really caught on like Dusty Springfield's or Petulla Clark's. But, I did spend several years over there and use to watch 'Blind Date" and "Surprise, Surprise". I became a fan very quickly, and was shocked when I heard the news on Saturday. Such a sad loss.

Does anyone have the photo of the Hollies with Cilla Black in 1969/70 on some kind of variety show? I think Tom Jones was with them too, could have been the Tom Jones Show and Cilla featured in the same episode I think.
She will be missed. In the UK she's been somewhat "part of the furniture" (much like the Hollies) and just taken for granted that she's always going to be on TV. She was earthy, funny and always true to her roots. She was lucky to have two big phases to her career - firstly her hugely successful singing career and later her career in TV.
What I have loved reading the tributes to her is that no two people have the same thing to say about her. Unusually with obituaries you get very similar things (they were kind, happy, friendly etc...) but everyone has a different story to tell about Cilla and she connected with so many people. No wonder she was known as "Our Cilla". RIP.

Cilla did cover Graham Nash's 'Sleep Song' from his 1971 debut solo LP, 'Songs For Beginners' on her 1973 album 'Day By Day' which I picked up last week in a charity shop. It's actually a really nice album, Cilla definitely mellowed her singing style by the 70's

Found another Cilla/Hollies connection. I picked up this LP in my local antique shop last week and it features a rather dramatic cover of 'The Air That I Breathe'
