Have you got any details of what else was put onto this disc, Simon? I'm interested why they compiled it to send to people to see what they'd like to hear... It amazes me how great record companies were to fans before copyright came into play. I remember reading a story of a guy who wanted to hear Bob Dylan's 1966 "Albert Hall" concert (the one where the fans yell "JUDAS!" before he launches into a blistering, sneering rendition of 'Like A Rolling Stone'. Anyway, it was recorded for release, but culled at the time. A guy in the 70's just wrote to CBS and asked to hear it and they sent him a reel to reel tape of it free of charge! It ran on the bootleg circuit for years until the whole concert was released officially. But I like that idea, just giving the fans what they want and not having to make a big deal out of releasing something.
I think they should just do a proper sync up like I did using the master tapes so we can have a nice stereo mix and Graham's of the era voice. He had reconstructive surgery on his vocals in the early 1970's and his voice changed a bit to my ears. Not that it really matters either way. Part of me thinks it would be nice to "finish" it, the other half of me thinks leave it as it is as a historical recording but add the voice from Graham's CSN demo.
Did anyone get a copy of the video before it was removed? I can't work YouTube or a video editor. I liked my SoundCloud because I could just deal with the MP3s and it was easier but I can't upload to it now I've "breached their terms and conditions" by uploading "copyrighted" material. How do these bootlegs and unofficial things like the Magic Records series get circulated? Surely they don't pay royalties? How hard would it be to get a Hollies compilation released of select good quality bootleg material?
