Tomorrow is Easter AND Allan Clarke's 73rd Birthday! What is your favorite Allan Clarke solo song?
Mine is probably "Survivor" from his fabulous Legendary Heroes album. What is yours?

Welcome to the forum, ladyjane9!
Nature's Way Of Saying Goodbye (can we have a remaster of ''arold', please?) Who? Drift Away If I Were The Priest Stand By Me
Five of my favourites from Clarkey's solo sideline activities.

'Arold was available for a while on Magic Records from France and contains the Clarke vocal version of OH Granny. Coward By Name is on another Magic Records CD called Rare 60s & 70s B Sides Singles".
At least all the Clarke solo RCA tracks have been out there even if on the dubious label Magic Records. Who knows what source they used for that CD.

Thank you, "dirtyfaz", for that information. Do you know where to obtain the Allan Clarke CD's on Magic Records? I have only tried Amazon so far for getting more Allan Clarke solo CD's.

Thanks James T - yes welcome LadyJane9. As to Clarke's first album, you can try the usual places: www.gemm.comwww.musicstack.comI personally try to avoid all the French Magic CD releases - I've yet to hear one that is sonically worth chasing. You would do better IMHO to buy a good condition vinyl album copy and ask someone to 'liberate it' digitally for you via a 'needle drop'. Someone may even PM you on this board to help you out. For the record, when I interviewed Allan in 2013, I did ask why this has not been properly released but his answer was inconclusive and we then got off the topic (which is pretty typical me!)

A company like Esoteric Records would be the most likely to release 'arold. They did a superb job with Joan Armatrading's debut earlier this year. I would have thought there would be reason able sales from Hollies fans alone.

Thank you, Gralto and JamesT for your assistance. I also inquired on the Hollies Facebook page and ended up having a bit of a run-in with Allan Clarke's son, Toby! It seems that MusicStack only offers burned CD's at upwards of $70, so I inquired if someone on the Facebook fan page would be willing to burn a CD off of one of their albums I would happily pay them--less than $70! So, Toby chimed in and seemed angry that I wanted to do this; however, I explained that the reason I wanted a CD of My Real Name is 'arold so badly is that I'd love to listen to it in the car on my commutes to and from work. I have purchased Allan's other CD's legitimately, but I don't know how else to get a CD. Hopefully he was not too offended. Anyway, any leads are appreciated!

Actually this is a good point - Toby Clarke (whom I've spoken with briefly but never met and is a good guy) understandably is protective of his dad. I probably shouldn't have suggested this as a proper course of action in the first place. Then again, in this digital age, with all the technology at our disposal, there is simply no stopping anyone from doing it - many of us have copies of the LP - and I'm sure the entire album is probably available on a gazillion file sharing websites in excellent 'needle drop' quality if you go sniffing around hard enough. If anything though, it further highlights the urgent need for a full remaster and reissue with bonus tracks of Clarkie's first LP that many on this board have been banging on about, made at a time when both he and The Hollies were producing top quality long players.
