Allan Clarke has not given his blessing to the current aggregation calling itself "The Hollies". I support and agree with Allan 100%. It seems to me that anyone who disagrees with Allan and goes along with the travesty that is the current group is being disrespectful of his opinion and talents. You can't have it both ways; either you support Allan or the band. The line is drawn in the sand.
By contrast, when Mott the Hoople regrouped last year with their second lead guitarist Ariel Bender, original Mott guitarist Mick Ralphs, gave his blessing to the band.

Allan didn't give his support to the Rickfors era either. When Allan returned to the Hollies, he refused to sing any Rickfors hits. Do you still support and agree with Allan 100%?

Good point John !!
Going by that logic then you either support Allan Clarke (over 30 UK hits) or Mike Rickfors (1 UK hit) versions of the band
- you can't have it both ways, the line is drawn in the sand.....

I like the current band and also respect Alans potential dislike of it. Democracy and each to their own.

Am I missing something here, I have heard many of Allan's interviews of late, its been wonderful , has he said anywhere that he doesn't endorse this current line up, dislikes it etc, From what Moorlock is saying this is the case. Can someone please post the link to this interview, I would like to hear it. You are right Joht, Allan never endorsed the Rickfors years and wouldn't sing any of their songs, Bobby has never had a good word to say about it and he lived through it. a shame really as they did do some great stuff. Funny how this current line up has played the two Rickfors minor hits in their set in recent years. They are showing that era respect by doing so. As I said please post a link, I would be interested in hearing Allan's exact words. Plus I thought Simon was trying to discourage these type of negative trying to stir the pot type subjects that are trying to divide members in this group. Just wanted to add something, I think we would all just about agree that Allan Clarke is the most respected and admired of any of the Hollies, how do you go past the voice, just think it's disgusting trying to bring him into your arguments against this line up.

C'mon girls. Hasn't this band thing been done to death.
We all have our own thoughts as to what version of the band we may think is best. Remember it is only our opinion.
In the end who cares if whatever version of the band was or wasn't endorsed by whom ever.
I have said I have seen all versions of the band (except Nash era cause they didn't make Oz when he was in the band) and the one that has disappointed me most is the current one.
Each and every vocalist has their great moments and also not so great. Who cares, not I. I listen to the Hollies as an entire band.

This Allan doesn't endorse the band crap, really. I challenge you to find a positive topic or comment by Moorlock2003. You put up a topic then people have a right to reply, as long as its done in a respectful manner. Not sure who you are talking about when you say come on Girls, I know most here use false identities, so with respect this girls stuff is showing a lack of respect. Funny I don't even know you and now I'm angry at you dirtyfaz, the Moorlock1972 is working his tricks. This I hate the current line up has been done to death. As I said Simon spoke recently about insightful topics, well here is another one.

If you happen to disagree with Moorlock2003 and feel he has been over the top then to me the quickest way to end it is by not reaponding to it.
Funny when I typed "C'mon Girls" I did wonder how long it would take for someone to take a swipe at me re that comment as no disrespect was intended. Unfortunately as part of the thinking today there is no humour. It is an old expression about carrying on.
I don't have to find a positive or negative comment re what Moorlock2003 states. I am from the school of belief that he is winding up the folks here.

I know that, but if that's a way of getting enjoyment then he has a far different way of thinking than I do. I understand that a lot of the long term fans would know each other well here, , If Moorlock is who I suspect he is Mr. Fred Cooper, then I have traded stuff with him 25, 30 years ago. Hopefully I'm not doing Fred Cooper a disrespect if it's not. Many times I have felt why bother with this site, I come here to get away with all the negativity of the world, not saying we need to hold hands and sing , hey I see negativity at work, I saw the guy driving down the footpath in the city and turn into Burke street and kill 5 people. I'm sure we have a lot here how dislike me, that's fine too. Hey I'm one of the few here that are happy to defend this 15 year line up, that must make me seem very strange. But I don't come here to stir things up, I'm here to hear peoples thoughts ideas, knowledge and just mix with people who have a strange liking for the Hollies, its not that common, Hollies who are they, the normally response. He I didn't let you down with the swipe back at girls.

Me, well I realize there are many people on this site that do like the current Hollies. I don't super dislike them, just that they don't entertain me like other versions of the band did live. I have seen this current version each time they come to Australia except a tour a few years back when I was on a cruise. I still go and see them and the last time was probably the most enjoyable. I always go with a group of people my age that I grew up with and they are usually happy. I guess I just analyze it a bit more.

I always go with a group of people my age that I grew up with and they are usually happy. I guess I just analyze it a bit more. First saw Hollies here in 1975, haven't missed a tour since, the first 4 times were with Clarke, then Carl Wayne now this current line up. Every time I see them I think this could be the last time I see Bobby and Tony. Really they have been inactive since 1980 apart from the Nash reunion and I was shocked when I heard Clarke was against that. So in real terms they are being compared to 40 years ago, weren't we all better 40 years ago, I'm then in my early 20's. Anyway the band always put on a good show, I agree at times re the set list, gosh I hate Yes I will, just drop it, play one less song if need be. Then a few years ago in came Stewball, I sat through three UK concerts hearing that, then they brought it to Oz. Give me strength. You did impress me when you said earlier somewhere that you went to the UK to see a series of concerts with Carl Wayne. I booked to do the same in 2002 but he got sick and they cancelled that tour. I did go over in 2018 and saw 4 out of the last 5 shows , great way to see the UK, meet some other Hollies fans, sat next to Shelia from Carousel one show, had a brilliant time plus had a few chats with Bobby Elliott at the pub as well as Ian Parker who is such a nice person. Forget the diary, when talking to Bob he has a wonderful memory, remembered cyclone Tracy here in Oz, spoke to him about Don't get Sunburnt, said he has some still photos from doing that. He even gave me advice where to go for a nice cuppa in Harrogate, Betty's tea rooms which is famous there. Yes I'm still a fan of this line up, given me a lot of adventure and enjoyment, pleased you still go to the shows dityfaz, once they go then its all is the past and we know how quickly that goes. Sorry if I have strayed off topic, The Hollies are not just the band, its the package that goes with it.

This subject has been done to death a number of times on this forum and therefore, with due respect, it is a rather tiresome matter to debate.
My interest in The Hollies centres on them as recording artists, song writers and concert performers (in that order). Clearly the artistically and commercially successful Allan Clarke lead Hollies (versions I and II with Nash & Sylvester respectively) are the standout versions of the band, followed by the Rickfors version that recorded some fine material without huge commercial success. With regard to the current 15 years old version of the band, it puts on a high quality show, it entertains many people around the world and, importantly, it keep the sounds of The Hollies alive; and we get to see Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott in the process. That is a good thing!

We'd better ask Vic Steele and Don Rathbone while we're at it if they gave the Hollies their blessing to carry on...

Tony and Bobby showed that they couldn't care less about any former members of the band when they snubbed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this after Graham pleaded with them to fly over to New York for it. I have little respect left for them, especially since they now present an obviously very inferior version of the group to a gullible public.

Allan didn't give his support to the Rickfors era either. When Allan returned to the Hollies, he refused to sing any Rickfors hits. Do you still support and agree with Allan 100%? You are ill-informed. Allan praised Rickfors' singing, saying he was "picking up where Scott Walker left off". High praise indeed. Scott Walker is one of the greatest singers of all time.
