Hello. I'm a new member but a long time lurker. Like many of you, I'm a Hollies collector and have at least 100 cds by them. I recently discovered 4 remastered titles from 2007-8 from EMI- Hollies, Buddy Holly, Romany and Another Night. My question is-are there others in this series of remasters? If so please provide title label and year. Next-in general besides the box sets have there been any remasters released after the 4 EMIs of 07-08? Thanks in advance for your kind responses. Regards Kenny

No, there's no more in that series. It was a continuation of the 1999 remaster series, but with additional bonus tracks and some newly released songs. 'Write On' onwards (except 'Buddy Holly') haven't had the standalone release treatment by the Hollies officially, only on Magic Records in France, which weren't 'official' by any means, culling bonus tracks from vinyl and cassette sources. The 2007/8 remasters are much better packages than the 1999 remasters, with better artwork, great sleeve notes and really clean remastering. The difference between the 2003 and 2007 remaster of "The Baby" is hugely noticeable. I wish they'd go back in and remaster the whole catalogue with appropriate bonus tracks.
I'm really annoyed that the recent Japanese OBI releases seem to being pushed as 'official', with Spotify now showing these configurations, with glaring errors like grouping the 1968 Nash era tracks onto 'Hollies Sing Hollies'. I don't accept these most recent releases as official, and they've been confirmed to use the old 1997, 1999, 2003 and 2007 sources.

Of the albums which haven't been remastered, A Crazy Steal is one which I feel needs a little sonic cleaning. A pity that the Out On The Road tracks and the wonderful Crossfire weren't remastered for release on the Changin' Times and Head Out Of Dreams boxsets.

'Crossfire' to me sounds like a vinyl rip on the CT boxset. I was really happy to get the OOTR tracks officially for the first time ever, but at the same time disappointed that they were nowhere near as exciting as the vinyl rip that I did of my virtually unplayed Hansa copy some years ago. I can't say I've played those tracks from the boxset since my initial listen, preferring my own vinyl rip. The Hollies always seem to have a tendency to get really weak sounding remasters, or hideously over-cooked remasters with the exception of those few 2007 releases, which are really quite good. Some of the "remastered" tracks on 'Clarke Hicks & Nash Years' were so overcooked to the point of distortion.

Yes, I'd say Crossfire is a vinyl rip, close to the standard of Magic Records! Pity.
