Will love to get the signed CD...! Now if only there were US pre-orders for the physical copies, though if it takes Amazon UK for a signed edition I'll gladly take the extra steps (and price too)

Well it’s early days yet, the vinyl only went on sale yesterday and the signed CD at the weekend. It’s being handled by BMG worldwide, so there should be availability in the US. Give it a couple of months and we’ll see. If not, I’m happy to buy them on behalf of American fans and post them out to the US.

Overreaction guys. Allan has "smile and giggle" in that statement and that indicates to me the statement was a little tongue in cheek. We also don't know the full interview with The reporter and in this day and age are notorious for using quotes to get a cheap reaction. Yes, I think too much is being read into this throwaway comment. If Clarke is such a purist, he and Graham Nash could get Vic Steele and Don Rathbone out of obscurity, and together they could form the "original" original Hollies. Can they still play?

It wouldn't be the same without Eric. That didn't stop them in 1983, why should it now? Some ads for the '83 tour had them billed as "The Original Hollies" but it was without Eric, so it wasn't totally true. Apparently, according to Clarke, only a Clarke/Nash/Steele/Rathbone/Haydock combination is truly "original". Never mind that Steele never recorded with them. Has a photo of Steele ever surfaced?

Thank you for posting the article, Tony! Interesting stuff - an album with Graham would be great but I kinda doubt it will happen. Saying in the current Hollies there isn't an original player, is pretty offensive and disappointing, though. I wouldn't say it's "Terry twitter level" but hints in that direction. I mean it is technically true but very wrong on so many levels. Perhaps we can be happy that he doesn't use twitter... Agreed! That's an uncalled-for and pretty cheap shot Clarke took at the current 'Hollies', and the thought of categorizing Hicks and Elliott as mere 'replacement' Hollies, really boggles the mind. Clarke really had to go out of his way to hurl that low blow. For a group that once seemed to project the very epitome of group harmony, the wheels have sure come off the Hollies wagon recently. Let's see now: Sylvester disses Clarke and Nash, Clarke disses Hicks and Elliott, everyone seems to be thumbs down on Sylvester. Only The Hollies 'lesser lights' seem to have escaped the cheap shots lately. I suppose they're too low in the pecking order to be worth bothering with. 'Old and cranky' would appear to be a suitable term to describe several characters here. At least I haven't heard Graham crap on any of his old band mates lately. Don't know if he's taken the high road on this, or whether he considers The Hollies members too trivial to merit comment, but I believe he's wise to give his old band a wide berth. How ironic for a band known for harmony that there is such a lack of same among former members.

That harmonious group The Beach Boys are even worse, and The Everly Brothers barely spoke for 10 years.

Nash upset Crosby too. He obviously is not just Mr. Nice Guy either Nash and Crosby can't stand each other anymore either apparently. It happens with duos. Righteous Brothers, Everlys, Peter & Gordon all had the same trouble.

It's like a bunch of old farts arguing about what they're going to watch on TV in a care home!

Cheers, Tony. Great interview! Don't you just love it when the interviewer is so obviously a fan and so enthusiastic. And thankfully not one mention of Carrie Anne or Jennifer Eccles!
Glad to hear Allan so enthusiastic, too.
Sylvester is rightly praised.
Lovely stuff!
