The website ioffer has cleared out all of its music section, which heavily carried bootleg dvds. Also the fan-club site, that had lots of fine dvd comps including The Hollies, has vanished as well. There's been a crackdown on counterfeiting. Thankfully I also picked up fan-club comps on Mott the Hoople, The Walker Brothers, The Kinks, and The Beau Brummels, all with elusive clips. Glad I got them in time.

Did you get the 'fan-club' DVD that featured Allan Clarke's 'Ruby' video? I'd love to see it.
Nearly bought the DVD myself, but I already had pretty much everything else on it.

No. I only bought the "Long Dark Road" dvd from them. "Ruby" was only released as a single in the US, Canada, Spain, and Germany. "You're Losing Me" was the single elsewhere. I know nothing about a "Ruby" video. I always thought "Nature's way of saying goodbye" should have been the first single. Stock copies of the US and Canadian "Ruby" (with "Baby it's alright with me" on the B-side) are hard to come by. I have both. They're not even listed on Discogs.

I know one song was 'Long Cool Woman' (filmed outdoors, this is listed in 'Channelling The Beat!'), but what was the other song?

The Fan Club DVD site is alive and well under a new name.

What's the deal with the "Ruby" video? Did it originate from the UK?

I believe it's from a program called 'Superstars of Rock'. The Clarke clip was filmed in the UK but the special was made to be screened in the USA. I always thought The Hollies were in this special but maybe it's only Harold solo. Clarke has the moustache happening and with the rest of the blokes in the band similarly hirsute, it's definitely the hairiest group of blokes he ever played with!

Thanks Simon!
A quick research reveals that this was a 13 part series made for US TV, and the edition featuring AC (which also included Seals and Croft & Badfinger), was broadcast in most areas on 9th June 1973. Interestingly, The Hollies were named among the scheduled guests when the show was announced in Billboard magazine on 4th November 1972. So, unless there was also an episode featuring the band, at some point they chose to feature The Hollies' ex-lead singer rather than the Clarke-less incarnation!
