I'm curious if any Hollies fans here are also fans of Mott the Hoople. The band is as important to me as The Hollies. Since they're not coming to the West coast, I am travelling to New York the second week in April to see Mott in New York. Having foolishly missed them back in the early '70s, I will not let them go back to England without seeing them this time around. I am super excited about this. 3000 miles for Rock and Roll? Of course!

You've found a fellow Mott fan in me, Moorlock! One of my very favorites too. Your dedication really shows, that sounds like an incredible feat - I hope your trip works out and you have a fabulous time there! Ian's turning 80 (!!!) soon, bless the guy - a real rock'n'roll hero!

Hi Moorlock, Don't know that group, so I looked it up on google, had a long list of past members, so I'm assuming this is a tribute band. Hope you enjoy the show in April.

You're right, vocalist Ian Hunter is the only current member from their best known and most successful line-up (the band who recorded 'All The Young Dudes'), though with him now are Morgan Fisher and Ariel Bender, who joined in late '73 and were on some of the later hits. All 5 originals got back together in 2009 and 2011, but sadly two have died since then... anyway, great band, whoever's with Ian.

Careful Anthony; your sarcasm is showing (again). FYI this is the core '74 lineup (Hunter, Bender, and Fischer) minus of course Buffin and Overend, who have passed.

It's the 3 core members from the '74 lineup plus Hunter's Rant band joining the festivities.

Its just funny the ones that want to knock this line up of the Hollies for so many reasons, then are happy with one original member of a band calling itself that bands name. Maybe it should just be Ian Hunter and guests. If that's sarcasm then so be it, but I think its double standards.

I may be one on the ones you refer to when you say knock this line up. I don't think Howarth has much of a personality and the harmony vocals leave something to be desired. I am not a fan of going to see half baked groups eg touring Beach Boys (although they at least have the lead vocalist) or many other that don't or aren't the real deal. I guess if a group still has the LS and they still have the vocal chops they will at least sound ok and you can bet they surround them with good musicians. This current Hollies has good musicians but the vocals let them down.

It's being billed as "Mott the Hoople '74", making it clear that this is the '74 lineup. Even ailing original guitarist Mick Ralphs has given his blessing to the tour. So it's not like Hunter is trying to pull a fast one. This is a 3/5 reunion of a lineup that sold a hell of a lot of albums in this country, and sold out 5 nights in New York back in '74, with Queen as the opening act.
