See here: when Chris Perry holds up the tape box it says "Hollies - The Baby", which is almost certainly one of the long "lost" 'Top Of The Pops' appearances!

I love things like this, finding and preserving lost footage - but when do we get to see the results of the finds?

It will depend upon a number of factors including gaining the appropriate licensing and clearances. Kaleidoscope (aka KAL) has regular screenings (in the UK) which enable those local to see some of these rarities. They can get local events where up to possibly 100-120 people attend in one venue for a single screening over the line but releasing such things online is often not done given the size and scope of KAL's holdings. Unless it was something truly significant that they decided worthy of chasing all the clearances, I doubt that clips like The Baby on TOTP will be officially placed on line by KAL. Sometimes someone liberates a clip and puts it up but it won't be done by KAL. It's worth noting that various private individuals have collectively stumped up the significant pounds required to commence all this work on this collection being digitised. KAL works with all the UK networks to locate such material and is highly regarded by these organisations due to their level of professionalism and rigour. In terms of this collection and Hollies finds, it's possible that both Hollies performances of 'The Baby' with Rickfors - there were only 2 - on TOTP may be amongst this collection. While some photographs survive, presently not a single second of either clip exists with BBC Archives and nothing has ever surfaced amongst footage collectors. The survival and hopefully good quality transfer of The Baby - if achieved - will rank as a MAJOR Hollies footage find; the first TOTP Baby appearance being the first time anyone in England had seen what the new Hollies lead singer looked like, photos aside. |

The colour photo of the band that we've seen with Rickfors holding a hand mike, is from Top of the Pops, yes?
